24 June 2009 - Associate Professor Shterev Appealed to Stara Zagora Residents to Vote for the “Blue Coalition.”
On June 24, the Member of the Parliament (MP) from the Bulgarian New Democracy (BND), Associate Professor (AP), Atanas Shterev, during a press conference of the "Blue Coalition" Election Headquarters in Stara Zagora, appealed to all democratically thinking voters from the 27th Stara Zagora Electoral Region to vote in the July 5 elections for the 41st National Assembly with ballot number 19, the ballot of the "Blue Coalition."
In his address to the reporters, AP Shterev reminded of his consistent political position since the beginning of democratic changes in the country in 1989 until now. "I had always voiced public support for rightist politicians," he said, "From Elka Konstantinova in 1990, Petar Stoyanov and Nedelcho Beronov, right-wing presidential candidates, to the nominees for Stara Zagora Mayors, Professor Tsanko Yablanski and Profesor Svetlin Tanchev. Those currently running the country," Shterev continued, "the politicians from the tri-party Coalition are incapable of solving the its problems in the conditions of global financial crisis. This can be done only by a right-wing government and this is why I appeal to all Stara Zagora residents to vote for the "Blue Coalition" so that we can bring Bulgaria back on the road to Europe." Petar Stoyanovich, leader of the Georgiovden party extended a similar appeal, underlining the "Blue Coalition" is the only predictable political force. The MP from Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB), AP Ivan Ivanov, leader of the proportional ballot of the "Blue Coalition" in the 27th Stara Zagora Electoral Region, thanked AP Shterev and Stoyanovich and expressed his belief the support coming from BND and Georgiovden would contribute to a better performance of the ticked he is leading on July 5. At the following meeting in Kazanlak, with representatives of the medical community, AP Shterev again appealed voters to "cast their ballot for the "Blue Coalition" because the changes that healthcare workers expect could happen," Shterev assured, "but only with a right-wing Cabinet in Bulgaria in the next 4 years.
